Minimum vs Recommended
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit) | Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit) |
| CPU | Quad-core | 3.2 GHz quad-core |
| RAM | 4 GB | 8 GB |
| GPU | GTX 1050 | GTX 2060 |
| Storage | 10 GB available | 10 GB available (SSD recommended) |
Quick "Can It Run?" Check
- GTX 1050 / 4 GB RAM or better? You meet minimum — expect 1080p Low–Medium. See Best Settings.
- GTX 2060 / 8 GB RAM or better? You meet recommended — 1080p High at 60 FPS.
- Below a GTX 1050? Risky. Integrated graphics may launch but struggle; consider a settings tune or hardware upgrade.
Laptop Players
Most modern gaming laptops with a discrete GPU (GTX 1650 and up) clear the minimum comfortably. Two caveats: (1) use the dedicated GPU, not integrated — set Frozen Ship to run on the high-performance card in Windows Graphics Settings; (2) thermals — survival sessions are long, so a cooling pad helps sustain clocks.
Storage & Launch
- 10 GB free — an SSD is recommended for faster load times between the ship and the wastes.
- Frozen Ship launches in Early Access on Aug 7, 2026, with an EA-period price reduction.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Frozen Ship run on a GTX 1050?
Yes — it's the official minimum. Pair it with 4 GB RAM and a quad-core CPU, and expect 1080p at Low–Medium settings.
Is 4 GB RAM enough?
It meets minimum, but 8 GB (recommended) gives the simulation far more headroom as your 20-crew colony grows. If you can, upgrade.
Does it run on Mac or Linux?
The published requirements list Windows 10/11 (64-bit). Check the Steam page for Mac/Linux support before buying if you're outside Windows.
How big is the download?
10 GB of available space. An SSD is recommended for quicker transitions between base and scavenge runs.
